I wrote an article in English.

This is my first time writing an article in English. I have written many diaries and articles in French so far, but from now on I am thinking of writing in English as well.

Did you know that there is a statue of British hero Winston Churchill in Paris?

I walked around the Champs-Élysées last week. This is one of my favorite areas in Paris. There is a statue of French hero Charles de Gaulle here. It is his figure at the time of the liberation of Paris.

However, there is a bronze statue of Churchill near the Petit Palais, just past the Champs-Élysées from here, that is unknown to anyone.

I like the politicians and leaders of this era.I especially care for de Gaulle's intense political realism. And of course Churchill too. What the two men have in common is not only that they were military men, but that they were cultured and had quirky personalities, and led the country without compromising their beliefs despite being criticized by others.

The times and technology in all fields are different from those of the time. However, I think that I can learn the essence of politics and society from their biographies and speeches, and I find them interesting to learn.

It seems that de Gaulle and Churchill did not get along well, but at least without Churchill's support, I don't think de Gaulle would have made such a name for himself. Perhaps the statue is near de Gaulle to express his gratitude.
